Impact of Examination Malpractice on Behaviour of Secondary School Students in North-Central Nigeria

Abstract

The study investigated the impact of examination malpractice on behaviour of secondary school students in North-Central Nigeria. Research questions and hypotheses were raised to guide the study. The study design is survey. The sample was 380 senior secondary school students; randomly selected from three states in North-Central Nigeria. Impact of Examination Malpractice on Behaviour (IEMOB) questionnaire was used to collect data. The data was analysed using mean, standard deviation, t-test and ANOVA. The results revealed that examination malpractice impacted negatively on behaviour of secondary school students. It impacted negatively on behaviour of male and female students; it did impact negatively on public and private school students as well as students in rural and urban settings. It was recommended that value orientation and enlightenment about impact of examination malpractice be given on continuous basis to secondary school students in North-Central Nigeria.
